§ Mr. Carter-Jonesasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what action his Department will take to encourage paper saving, in view of public concern about its effects on the environment and import bill.
§ Mr. MarksI hope that the assistance which the Government are making available to the paper and board industry under the Industry Act, by increasing the demand for waste paper, will itself encourage saving. In addition we have issued practical advice to local authorities who salvage waste paper or are considering doing so. We shall also be publishing a more wide-ranging booklet for voluntary organisations.
