§ Mr. John Watkinsonasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what was the level of capital outflows in 1976, 1975, 1974 and 1973.
§ Mr. Denzil DaviesCapital flows, including unidentified flows, resulted in a net outflow of £77 million in 1973, a net inflow of £1,651 million in 1974, and a net inflow of £177 million in 1975; in the first nine months of 1976 there was a net outflow of £2,164 million. The main feature of the turnround from net inflow to net outflow between 1975 and 1976 is the decline in overseas holdings of sterling in London. Details of these flows are given in the December 1976 issue of the Central Statistical Office's "Economic Trends", a copy of which is in the Library.
