The expenses paid to the Chairman and other members of the Board in 1975–76 amounted to £2,763. In that year, the Board received stakes of £49,343,505, distributed £39,752,350 among persons making winning bets, paid £3,136,073 in betting duty and levy, and met operating expenses of £6,526,268, which included the salaries and expenses of the Board and its staff.
