§ Mr. Rookerasked the Secretary of State for Employment when he proposes to lay regulations under the Health and Safety at Work Act providing for the appointment of safety officers and safety committees.
§ Mr. John GrantIn keeping with the Government's declared intention in this matter, the regulations are now being printed and should be laid before Parliament before the end of March to come into operation on 1st October 1978. In the meantime, the Government would welcome any move towards voluntary agreements for the introduction of safety representatives and safety committees, where this is practicable.
