HC Deb 28 February 1977 vol 927 c31W
Mr. James Lamond

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what examination he has made of the extent to which the United Kingdom is affected by the agreement on the rights of migrant workers contained in the Helsinki Final Act; and whether a review of the way in which other signatory countries have carried out their pledge to accord these workers equal rights with their own nationals will be submitted to the Belgrade conference.

Mr. Luard

As part of its preparations for the review meetings of the Conference on Security and Co-operation in Europe to be held later this year in Belgrade, Her Majesty's Government are thoroughly examining all parts of the Final Act in relation to United Kingdom policies and practices. In this context, we are also looking at the question of migrant labour.

At the Review Conference we shall, of course, also be looking at the way in which other countries have carried out their obligations under the Final Act.
