HC Deb 25 February 1977 vol 926 c733W
Mr. Skeet

asked the Secretary of State for Energy what is the coverage of the concept mentioned in Clause 10 of the Coal Industry Bill "minerals other than coal or petroleum"; and whether it is intended by him to include hardstone, aggregates and so forth used by the building industry and in the construction of roads in the United Kingdom.

Mr. Eadie

Clause 10 of the Bill would give the National Coal Board the power to mine any mineral, other than coal or petroleum, discovered in the course of working and getting or searching or boring for coal. Consequently, it would cover materials of use to the construction industry.
