HC Deb 25 February 1977 vol 926 c745W
Mr. Gould

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what was the total value of the output of manufacturing industry less food, &c., in the fourth quarter of 1975; and what was the corresponding figure for inputs of imported fuel and basic materials, respectively.

Mr. Denzil Davies

For 1975 as a whole provisional results from the Census of Production suggest that the gross output of manufacturing industries—less food, drink and tobacco—was £78.3 billion. Purchases of fuel and raw materials amounted to £43.5 billion. Information for particular quarters or on the proportion of these inputs that were imported is not available.
