asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is his latest estimate of the number of development gains tax cases outstanding and the probable tax yield on those cases.

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what increases in the staff of the Chief Valuer's Department has been necessary to handle work arising from development land tax at (a) central and (b) local level.

One additional post in the Chief Valuer's Office has been created for central liaison on development land tax; in local offices the work on DLT is integrated with other valuation work but the additional cost is estimated at the equivalent of about 165 full-time staff.

The work on development gains tax in local tax offices and valuation offices is integrated with work on other taxes. It is estimated that the administrative costs to date have been in the region of £150–200,000.
