§ Mr. Biggs-Davisonasked the Minister of Overseas Development what aid is being given to Botswana; and what proportion of such aid is allotted to refugees and so-called refugees.
§ Mrs. HartFor the period 1976–77 to 1978–79 capital aid in the form of loans and grants totalling £10 million has been made available for development projects. In addition, over £2 million is being provided this year for technical co-operation, most of which will be used in supplementing salaries of British personnel working directly for the Botswana Government. British official aid to refugees, including those in Botswana, is provided through the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. For 1977 our regular contribution to the Commissioner has been fixed at £350,000.
