HC Deb 25 February 1977 vol 926 cc726-7W
Mr. Ward

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what was the mean waiting time for hospital abortions in the Peterborough health district in 1971 and 1974.

Mr. Moyle

No separate statistics are available in the Peterborough health district on waiting time for hospital abortions in 1971 and 1974. Normal practice was, however, for appointments to be sent out by return of post and for patients to be seen within two weeks. The normal waiting time for operations for termination of pregnancy was two weeks, but more urgent cases were admitted to hospital immediately.
