HC Deb 24 February 1977 vol 926 c692W
53. Mr. Carlisle

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is the sum of money today which would have the same value as the sum of (a) £15.75 and (b) £9.45 paid to solicitors under the legal aid scheme for attendance at court on 1st January 1961.

Mr. Joel Barnett

If the change in the value of these sums is measured by the movement in the retail price index, the equivalent figures at January 1977 are (a) £54.49 and (b) £32.69.
