asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will introduce legislation providing rating relief for disabled persons; and if he will make a statement.

Rate relief for disabled persons is already available under Section 45 of the General Rate Act 1967 as extended by Section 20 of the Local Government Act 1974. I am considering the need for amending legislation and I hope to make a statement soon.
