HC Deb 23 February 1977 vol 926 cc629-30W
Mr. Forrester

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what steps have been taken to find out whether the training needs of Stoke-on-Trent are being met.

Mr. Golding

The Manpower Services Commission informs me that the Training Services Agency is currently reviewing the training needs of North Staffordshire Headings 311 and 312 of the Standard Industrial Classification—in that area in June 1975, the latest date for which detailed information is available. After allowing for the discontinuity at 1971, when the method of compiling the statistics was altered, there was no change in the number of employees in employment between 1970 and 1975 and a decrease of 900 between 1964 and 1970.
