asked the Secretary of State for Transport what estimate he has made in the increase in injury accidents that will occur during the current year as a result of the cut-back in road maintenance.

None. Local authorities have been advised that maintenance operations affecting road safety should be substantially unchanged. I expect the effect of the cuts to be chiefly perceptible

The British Railways Board has stated that it has notified the Price Commission that parcels prices are to be raised by an average of 15½ per cent. with effect from 27th March.
