§ Mr. Michael Lathamasked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection under what specific statutory powers the Price Commission secured the voluntary reductions in the price of 223 individual products referred to on page 35 of its quarterly report for the period 1st September to 3rd November 1976, following individual complaints on specific price increases.
§ Mr. MaclennanSection 6 of the Counter-Inflation Act 1973 provides the Price Commission with powers to secure compliance with the Price Code. However, I understand that most firms are anxious to co-operate in observing the code and are consequently prepared to take necessary action on a voluntary basis.
