Mr. Jim Callaghanasked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection from what sources he seeks names of people for appointment to the National Consumer Council, nationalised industry consumer councils and other consumer bodies for which he is responsible.
§ Mr. John FraserI make appointments to a wide range of consumer protection bodies, at national and local level, and am always happy to receive names from as wide a variety of sources as possible, including both individuals and consumer and other organisations; I am particularly concerned to ensure that the less privileged sections of the community are represented. My Department would welcome information about anybody who might wish to make a contribution to the work of these bodies, for consideration when suitable vacancies arise.
