HC Deb 23 February 1977 vol 926 cc611-2W
Mr. Newton

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is his estimate of the cost of implementing the custodianship provisions of the Children Act 1975; how many staff would be required; and when he expects to be able to set a date for implementation.

Mr. Moyle

Any additional cost incurred when these provisions are implemented will depend on the use made of them. It will fall mainly on local authorities. The timing is one of the matters on which, as I said in reply to the hon. Member on 10th February—[Vol. 925, c.840–1]—I hope shortly to consult the local authority associations.
