HC Deb 21 February 1977 vol 926 cc463-4W
35. Mr. Rose

asked the Secretary of State for Industry whether he will now consider the production of the HS146 being developed by Hawker Siddeley prior to the vesting date for public ownership of the aviation industry; and whether he will state the sums so far spent on development and the sum required to guarantee production.

Mr. Les Huckfield

The Government are currently reviewing HSA's latest assessment of the project, including the question of future costs if the aircraft is to go into production. We are at the same time seeking the views of the Organising Committee and the unions on the project. The Government have so far spent or committed £11.26 million on the project, including underwriting of the current £3½ million continuing development programme.
