HC Deb 21 February 1977 vol 926 cc495-6W
Mr. Faulds

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what provisions are made for the recording of listed buildings which are threatened with demolition or in a serious state of delapidation and thereby likely to be subject to dangerous structure notices.

Mr. Shore

Where listed building consent is granted for the demoltion of a listed building, the Royal Commission for Historical Monuments must be given at least one month's notice of the proposal to demolish and given reasonable access to enable them to record the building. Listed building consent or, if the works are urgently necessary in the interests of safety or health, a notice under Section 55(6) of the 1971 Town and Country Planning Act is still required even if a dangerous structure notice has been served. Apart from emergency demolitions, there is usually an opportunity to record the building.
