HC Deb 21 February 1977 vol 926 cc414-5W
Mr. Onslow

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food under what EEC regulations officers acting for his Department may board and inspect vessels fishing within the United Kingdom 200-mile limit.

Mr. Bishop

The Council of the European Communities has so far adopted two regulations, relating to the conservation and management of fishery resources, which require member States to take measures to ensure as far as possible the enforcement of the regulations within waters under their jurisdiction. Necessary inspection action by officers of my Department is taken in accordance with the provisions of appropriate United Kingdom legislation.
