HC Deb 18 February 1977 vol 926 c374W
Mr. Ward

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science whether the Cambridgeshire County Council has returned to her Department details of its policy relating to the taking of places at, and the payment of fees of children attending, non-maintained schools; and whether she proposes to revoke approval in respect of any such places in view of the places expected to become available in maintained comprehensive schools.

Miss Margaret Jackson

In accordance with Circular 12/76 the Cambridgeshire Education Authority has submitted details of its present arrangements for the support of education at non-maintained schools. My right hon. Friend will be considering, after consultation with the associations of local education authorities, what action may be necessary in order to ensure that the arrangements of this and other authorities in this field are compatible with her policy for comprehensive education.
