HC Deb 17 February 1977 vol 926 cc347-8W
Mr. Ashley

asked the Secretary of State for Trade if he will require that all invoices for imported goods display clearly the fair home market value of the goods concerned alongside the invoiced price.

Mr. Dell

I will bear this suggestion in mind when coming to a conclusion on the merits of a comparable proposal from the TUC and CBI relating to Customs entry documents.

Mr. Ashley

asked the Secretary of State for Trade if he will tabulate in the Official Report the overseas countries which required British exporters to display on invoices of those exports the fair home market value of the goods alongside the invoice price.

Mr. Dell

The following are the countries concerned:

  • Botswana.
  • Canada.
  • Ethiopia.
  • Lesotho.
  • Mexico.
  • Namibia.
  • New Zealand.
  • Papua New Guinea.
  • Philippines.
  • South Africa.
  • Swaziland.
  • USA.
  • Western Samoa.
and certain island territories in the South Pacific having links with Australia, New Zealand or the United Kingdom.
