HC Deb 16 February 1977 vol 926 c268W
Mr. Wigley

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what caused identifiable public expenditure per capita on economic and financial administration in Wales to increase from £11 in 1974–75 to £20 in 1975–76.

Mr. Joel Barnett

Of the increase of £9 per head, about £3 was due to the expansion of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Centre, about £3.50 was due to the establishment of the Royal Mint Trading Fund and the beginning of Treasury payments for its services, and the remainder to general increases in costs. The effect of the establishment of the Royal Mint Trading Fund on 1st April 1975 is explained in the Supply Estimates 1975–76 (Notes to Class XIII 4).
