HC Deb 15 February 1977 vol 926 c206W
Mr. W. E. Garrett

asked the Secretary of State for Industry what percentage of the total amount spent on research and development in shipbuilding and marine engineering is represented by Government expenditure.

Mr. Les Huckfield

The latest available estimate of industrial expenditure on research and development on ships and marine engines relates to 1972–73 and amounts to £7.2 million of which £3–3 million, or 46 per cent. was funded by Government. This includes the extramural but not intromural expenditure of the Ministry of Defence.
