HC Deb 15 February 1977 vol 926 cc188-9W
Mr. Trotter

asked the Secretary of State for Defence which divisions of the Royal Naval Reserve have ceased to have a mine counter-measures vessel based at their division as a result of the Government's defence cuts; and at which divisions such vessels are still based.

Mr. Duffy

The Royal Naval Reserve Divisions are divided into four groups sharing six Mine Counter-Measures Vessels (MCMVs) to ensure the continuation of mine counter-measures training at each Sea Training Centre. The MCMVs are based at Tyne, Forth, Sussex, Solent, Severn and Mersey; the MCMV based at Clyde has been replaced by a Bird class patrol craft.
