§ Mr. McCrindleasked the Secretary of State for Social Services why it is impossible for Moorfields Hospital to receive the eyes of a person if death takes place during the weekend.
§ Mr. MoyleIt is not impossible for Moorfields Eye Bank to receive the eyes of someone who dies during a weekend: its services are available on a 24-hour, 7-day-week basis within a 30-mile radius of the hospital. Would-be donors are encouraged to make arrangements with their general practitioners and local hospital which can by arrangement extract the eyes for onward transmission to Moorfields.
