HC Deb 15 February 1977 vol 926 c185W
Mr. Adley

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will raise in the Council of Ministers the comparative prices and the guarantee of future prices of natural gas enjoyed by Dutch horticulturists relative to their British counterparts with a view to eliminating any unfair competition.

Mr. Bishop

Cheap natural gas does not necessarily constitute unfair competition, but the Dutch authorities and the EEC Commission have been made aware of the importance that we attach to the fastest possible equalisation of Dutch gas and oil prices. The Dutch Government are already engaged in a programme of price equalisation, and we shall be watching progress.
