Mr. Clemitson

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what proportion of young persons in the 16 to 21 years age group inclusive are in full-time education or training according to the latest available statistics; and what are the corresponding figures for each of the preceding 10 years.

The percentages of young persons in England and Wales aged 16-20 inclusive at 31st December in full-time education including sandwich courses were as follows:
