HC Deb 15 February 1977 vol 926 c179W
Mr. Hastings

asked the Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what he expects to be the net real income to farmers and growers for 1976–77; and how this compares as a percentage of that for 1972–73 and 1973–74.

Mr. Bishop

The aggregate net income of the agriculture industry—including horticulture—is expected to be £1,751 million at current prices. After adjusting the changes in net income for changes in the retail price index, forecast net income in 1976–77 is 4 per cent. lower in real terms than in 1972–73 and 15 per cent. lower in real terms than in 1973–74.
