HC Deb 15 February 1977 vol 926 cc186-8W
Mr. Trotter

asked the Secretary of State for Defence what is to be the future use of the camps at Longmoor, Bordon, and Norton Manor.

Mr. Robert C. Brown

The long-term use of the camps at Longmoor is not yet decided. Bordon is to be the long-term home of the School of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering for which permanent barracks are being modernised. The ultimate requirement for other accommodation in Bordon which will be retained while the rebuilding work is in progress has not yet been decided. As regards Norton Manor camp at Taunton,

On the second part of the Question I have nothing to add to the answer I gave by hon. Friend the Member for Sheffield, Heeley (Mr. Hooley) on Tuesday 12th October 1976.—[Vol. 917, c. 92–93.]

this will become surplus to Army requirements in 1978 when the occupying unit moves out and no further defence use is currently foreseen.
