Mr. Richard Wainwright

asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will list in the Official Report the numbers of persons undergoing training from the training opportunities scheme for each year since 1972; and if he will list the numbers obtaining employment on completion of their training.

*Information in 1976 was obtained by means of a 4 per cent. random sample survey of all TOPS trainees who completed a full training course in June or July 1976. This survey showed that 69 per cent. of the sample had found a job by the end of October 1976 and another 2 per cent. were by then in, or awaiting, further training

asked the Secretary of State for Employment how many people underwent training in each of the years 1974, 1975 and 1976 for which they received State training allowance; and what are the comparable figures in Germany, France and Sweden.
