Mr. Carson

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what are the qualifications for part-time members of the Planning Appeals Commission; and when, and by whom, they were appointed.

Mr. Carter

There are no formal qualifications laid down under the Planning (Northern Ireland) Order 1972, for appointment as a part-time commissioner. The part-time commissioners were appointed by the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland on 1st October 1973 and were reappointed by him on 8th September 1976.

Mr. Carson

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland who are the members of the part-time Planning Appeals Commission; how much each member received during 1976, including annual retainer, attendance fees, and mileage allowance; and when their term of office expires.
