HC Deb 14 February 1977 vol 926 c26W
Mr. Teddy Taylor

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what advice he has given to the Chairmen of the New Town Development Corporations about their expansion plans; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Millan

I have announced that the development of Stonehouse will not proceed but that the development of the other five new towns in Scotland will continue until their target populations are reached. The pace at which this takes place must be a matter for close consultation between development corporations and the regional councils concerned and will, of course, be influenced by the availability of resources to central and local government.
