HC Deb 14 February 1977 vol 926 c70W
Mr. Hooley

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs when it is intended that the Conference on International Economic Co-operation (CIEC) should resume its deliberations; and what will be the main topics for discussion.

Dr. Owen

Arrangements for the resumption of the Conference on International Economic Co-operation will depend on the outcome of discussions between the two co-chairmen of the conference, Mr. MacEachen of Canada and Mr. Perez Guerrero of Venezuela.

In its four commissions on energy, raw materials, development and finance the conference covers a whole range of important issues, including developing countries' indebtedness, the need for a continuing dialogue on energy questions, the protection of purchasing power of commodity export earnings, the transfer of resources, investment and industrialisation.
