HC Deb 10 February 1977 vol 925 c757W
Mr. Maudling

asked the Minister for Overseas Development to what extent he takes into account the nature of the product to be provided, and the availability of under-used capacity to produce it in the United Kingdom, in determining the amount of aid to be given to any applicant country.

Mr. Judd

Aid commitments are decided according to the needs of developing countries and our aid strategy. Within that context, commercial considerations are taken into account. The greater part of our bilateral aid is, of course, tied to the supply of British goods and services, but not to the products of particular industries or firms.
