HC Deb 10 February 1977 vol 925 cc790-1W
Mr. Corrie

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how long it will be before Hunterston power station has to close down because of the dispute at Wind-scale.

Mr. Gregor MacKenzie

Like other nuclear power stations in the United Kingdom, both stations at Hunterston have considerable storage capacity for irradiated fuel on site. I am, therefore, advised by the South of Scotland Electricity Board that the two stations could continue to run normally for several months in the absence of reprocessing facilities at Windscale.
