HC Deb 09 February 1977 vol 925 c674W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for Employment whether he will explain why it was not possible to obtain a reply on the telephone from any person in his Department other than the security guard at 5.31 p.m. on Tuesday 1st February and at 5.36 p.m. on Wednesday 2nd February; and whether he will make the necessary arrangements to ensure that phone calls will be answered up until 6 p.m. at night.

Mr. Booth

I understand that my hon. Friend spoke to my office at the Department by telephone shortly before 6 p.m. on Wednesday 2nd February. He can do so on any weekday until well after 6 p.m. by telephoning the direct number listed in the House of Commons telephone directory.
