HL Deb 09 February 1977 vol 379 cc1268-9WA
Lord ALLEN of ABBEYDALE

asked Her Majesty's Government:

When work on the new Charing Cross interchange on the underground railway was started; when it was then thought that work would be finished; and what is the present expected date of completion.

Baroness BIRK

My right honourable friend understands that work started on the new Fleet Line Charing Cross Station ticket hall in March 1973 and was then expected to be completed by the end of 1976. It is now planned to be ready for the opening of the Fleet Line at the beginning of 1978. Work on the construction of the GLC subway system and connections to the main line station started in March 1976 and is expected to finish before the end of 1978.
