§ Mr. Kilfedderasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what is the amount which was paid to Her Majesty's Government by the Republic of Ireland in compensation for the burning of the British Embassy in Dublin; and whether there are plans for the building of a new embassy.
§ Mr. TomlinsonThe Embassy offices destroyed in 1972 were leased, as was stated in a Written Answer on 28th February 1973. A claim of £22,385 for damage to the contents has since then been paid in full. The present offices are owned by Her Majesty's Government. There are no plans for a new building.
