HC Deb 04 February 1977 vol 925 c447W
Mr. Maudling

asked the Minister for Overseas Development if he will specify the aid given in 1976 to developing countries on the principle of surplus capacity aid.

Mr. Judd

The aid programme helps quite considerably in providing orders to a wide range of British industry which is currently feeling the effects of recession, but I am unable to specify what proportion of our aid in 1976 may have benefited sections of industry where surplus stocks or capacity existed.
