HC Deb 02 February 1977 vol 925 cc222-3W
Mr. John Ellis

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether he has any plans to increase the fees for passports and for consular services.

Mr. Luard

Yes. An Order in Council was published on 25th January which provides for increases with effect from 7th February 1977. The increases are necessary because the cost of providing passport and consular services has continued to rise since fees were increased in March 1976. The fee for a standard passport previously £8 will now be £10, and for a British visitor's passport £5 against £4 previously. There will be commensurate increases in other passport and consular fees.
