HL Deb 01 February 1977 vol 379 cc843-4WA
Lord DRUMALBYN

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will make a further Statement about the current review by the Post Office of Sunday collections and late evening collections. [27th January.]

Lord WINTERBOTTOM

I am glad of the opportunity the noble Lord has given me to correct the information I gave in my reply to him on 19th January. It is the Post Office's intention to review both Sunday collections and late evening collections after a year. This review does not extend to the closure of Post Office counters on Saturday afternoons. Generally the Post Office continue to provide a second delivery service in rural areas. The Post Office tell me that the three service reductions which were implemented will save about £10 million in a full financial year.
