HC Deb 16 December 1977 vol 941 c546W
Mr. Lee

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will publish periodically guideline instructions to the Bank of England and the major clearing banks for the stricter monitoring of credit disbursements to secondary banks.

Mr. Denzil Davies

My right hon. Friend has no plans to do so at present.

Mr. Lee

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer how many lawsuits are currently in progress for the recovering of moneys loaned to secondary banks pursuant to the Bank of England's lifeboat procedure; how many actions have already been brought successfully; how much money has been recovered and how much is outstanding; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Denzil Davies

I regret that this information is not available.
