HC Deb 16 December 1977 vol 941 cc418-9W
Mr. Faulds

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he will make a statement on the sequence of events that led to the destruction of 10, 12 and 14 Ashton Street, Trowbridge, and their subsequent listing as of historical interest.

Mr. Shore

The Department was informed by the West Wiltshire District Council that these buildings would be affected by road proposals and they were included in the statutory lists on 1st June 1976 in advance of the fully revised statutory list for Trowbridge. The council did not then, or subsequently, report that the special interest of the buildings had been impaired. The damaged buildings still stand, but the district council has now applied for listed building consent to demolish them.
