§ Mr. Wrigglesworthasked the Secretary of State for Employment (1) why he has not invoked paragraph 6 of Schedule 3 to the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, to ensure only trained safety officers operate in British companies;
(2) if it is the Government's policy that all companies should employ trained safety officers; and when he expects this will come about.
§ Mr. John GrantI have received several representations from the British Safety Council relating to the qualifications of safety officers.
The question of the employment training and qualifications of safety officers is still under consideration by the Health and Safety Commission, following its discussion document on the subject published by the Health and Safety Executive in 1976, and all these questions will be considered in their review of the subject.
