HC Deb 15 December 1977 vol 941 c324W
Mr. Lee

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer on how many ocasions during the last five years Treasury permission has been sought under the exchange control legislation for the export of private capital to South Africa; on how many such occasions this has been granted; on how many occasions it has been refused; and in what projects the capital thus exported was invested in South Africa.

Mr. Robert Sheldon

The records of the Bank of England, which acts as the Treasury's agent on exchange control, are not kept in a form in which matters relating to proposed investments in individual countries can conveniently be identified. I regret therefore that this information cannot be provided without undue cost and effort.
