HC Deb 15 December 1977 vol 941 c367W
Mr. Warren

asked the Secretary of State for Transport what was the average length of the vehicles used in the 1950 formula that a minimum of 6,000 vehicles per day warrant consideration of a road being upgraded to a dual carriageway; what was the average length when the formula in 1961 was 8,500 vehicles per day; what was the average length when the formula in 1974 was raised to 17,000 vehicles per day; and what is the average length of vehicles using trunk roads in 1977.

Mr. Horam

The information requested by the hon. Member cannot be obtained. The average length of vehicles on the road was not a factor used in deriving the quoted levels of flow.
