Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Minister for the Civil Service what Government appointments were held, or are held, for the longest and most convenient stated period of time; and what were the salaries and pension rights claimable or now being drawn by Sir Claude Hayes, Sir David

Sir Claude Hayes following a career in the Home Civil Service and Her Majesty's Forces from 1938 to 1968, held the following Government appointment:

Service in the Home and Diplomatic Services was remunerated according to grade and position on the relevant pay scales which were published at the time. No central or departmental records of career earnings are maintained and it would be difficult and costly now to make the necessary calculations, going back in some cases more than 40 years.

All those named have qualified for pensions in respect of their employment

Pitblado, Sir Geoffrey Wilson, Sir John Mottram, Sir Frank Figgures, Sir Stephen Luke and Sir Matthew Stevenson; and what has been the total gross payments made to these public servants since being employed in Government appointments.
