HC Deb 15 December 1977 vol 941 c404W
Mr. David Young

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what was the number of pharmacists serving the National Health Service in each of the last 10 years.

Mr. Moyle

The information requested is not available for each of the last 10 years. Estimates are available of the number of pharmacists working in general practice in Great Britain for three of the years and these are set out below together with the number of pharmacists employed by health authorities in Great Britain:

the mobility allowance at (a) its current rate and (b) at £10 per week for disabled men between the ages of 55 and 65, and for disabled women between the ages of 55 and 60 years.

Mr. Alfred Morris

The additional cost of extending the scheme up to pensionable age—65 for a man, 60 for a woman—based on a £7 a week mobility allowance, is provisionally estimated at £12 million in a full year. The corresponding figure based on a £10 a week mobility allowance is £17 million.
