HC Deb 15 December 1977 vol 941 c347W
37. Mr. Sims

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department why restrictions on overtime have been imposed in the Metropolitan Police force.

Dr. Summerskill

I would refer the hon. Member to the replies given to Questions by the hon. Member for Harrow, West (Mr. Page) on 7th July.—[Vol. 934, c.627–8.]—We have consistently made it clear that if the money currently set aside in the Metropolitan Police estimates to cover overtime proves insufficient to meet the force's operational needs, it will be increased.

38. Mr. Townsend

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department when he last met the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis.

Mr. Merlyn Rees

On Friday 25th November.
